A winter hike...

Stebbin's Gulch is an 80ft or so deep ravine in the local Arboretum - and accessible only by a guided hike.

It's an interesting place, and worth the rigorous hike needed to get there....

Rock Carving

Above is a bit of the graffiti decorating the waterfall area - not your usual low-quality profanity!

Ice was the main feature - and it was spectacular!

Caught Leaves

The maple leaves caught in this ice (see above) were a stylish accent :)

The column of ice shown below was a standout too...

The Great Outdoors is... well, great!  There's sights and sensations to be savored, even in the deep cold of winter.

Winter offers many lovely scenes, snow covered pine trees, dramatic sky-scapes with deep blue light, etc. etc. - but ICE! Ice is so... transient; changing with the light and winds almost as we watch.

Here's a few pictures of Ice - not exactly 'lovely', but definitely interesting.

Hefalumps

...elephants? Or more appropriately Woolly Mammoths?

Lake Erie Ice

Waves and wind create chandeliers under handy debris, but few folks see them...

One day, a work crew left the door unlocked...  The place actually has a BASEMENT!!

Just inside the South Door... The right-hand doorway leads to the Basement...

Chain hoist and Iron spiral stair up - 4 floors all told...

Former main doors - facing East, first floor...

Second floor landing...
